Music VS Business: How to get a placement.

THE MUSIC

These guidelines ensure your music is polished, professional, and ready for sync opportunities. Clear labeling, clean lyrics, high-quality audio, and fully prepared tracks make it easy for supervisors to review and use your music, while avoiding rough drafts, samples, or unnecessary elements keeps your submission focused and placement-ready.

Following these steps maximizes your chances of landing placements and presenting your work at its best.

  • Submit songs with the proper song title and artist name (i.e. “Thriller” - Michael Jackson)
  • Clean lyrics are only accepted when pitching for sync opps
  • Always have the .wav file and instrumental ready
  • Always do a sound test before submitting - play in your car, over speakers, and in your headphones to ensure the best mix and master.
  • High quality audio files only.
  • Try to avoid long intros, skits, and preludes.
  • NO SAMPLES, PLEASE.
  • Please do not submit music that's "rough" or in "draft" status.

THE BUSINESS

Keeping your song information organized and complete ensures a smooth sync process from submission to placement. Proper splits, PRO registration, and detailed metadata make it easy for supervisors to search, clear, and use your music, while following the right steps for announcements and invoicing ensures you get paid correctly and professionally.

Here are some steps for staying organized and thorough maximizes your chances of landing placements and handling them efficiently.

  • Always complete a song split form for each song - this is required for pitching to sync opps.
  • Have song splits on hand and in a safe place. This includes legal names, PRO affiliation, IPI #, and Publisher information for EACH writer and composer.
  • Make sure your songs are registered with your PRO (BMI, ASCAP, or SESAC).
  • Only announce or post a placement to socials once paperwork, payment, and the release date details have been finalized.
  • The more metadata or info of a song you provide such as, the release date, artwork, genre, bpm, mood/feel, the easier it is for supervisors to search and place your song.
  • After you get a placement, you’ll receive payment by sending us an invoice and W9. From there, we encourage you to share on socials
